Updated: Jul 5, 2023

By Christy | The Practicing Pro

Read the Blog HERE and get your FREE African Safari Practicing (5 of 6) Adventures.

You can also Watch / Listen to the Live HERE where I share part 5 of how I happened to find myself suddenly teaching music one day in a remote Kipsigis village in Kenya 6 years ago! This time I am sharing what I taught the children in the village.

It's time to release level FIVE of the "African Safari Practicing Adventure", and with it - some more stories!

You have finished level FOUR and are ready for your award and to proceed on to the next adventure - level FIVE. Hurray! Great work!

In case you missed it, here are the earlier levels:

For all of you who have finished your level FOUR - the award for completing your level is…

Drumroll…

AN OSTRICH!!

This is what it looks like in the PDF - just print, cut out and glue or tape on.

For teachers of parents with multiple children practicing at home, I made a sheet with MULTIPLE ostriches for you to save paper and make it easier.

This time the celebration activity is a card game - fun right? It's like “Go Fish” but “Go on Safari” instead.

“Go on Safari” card game PDF - print on card stock

“Go on Safari” card game PDF - print on regular paper and fold in half (to make a thicker card with a front and a back.)

Let’s take a look at the activity a little closer. There are two versions to print. The first is to print on CARDSTOCK. The second one is to print in color or in black and white on regular paper. Cut out each card with the accompanying back connected to the right side. Put glue around the edge and fold it in half like a book. This will give you a stiffer “card” that you can not see through.

[PHOTOS of activity sheets being made- coming soon]

Something coming up soon:

I just got a Cricket, a cutting system for the school from my son-in-law, Caleb, who works for the company. How fun is that! It was 48 pounds in its box and I carried it all the way home on a train, Trax, bus, bus again, Trax again and then through the airport! My sister-in-law, Bonnie made me a wonderful and creative carrier for it from an old duffle bag to fit over my suitcase. It was very clever! Can you guess what I am doing with it?

Check out next week's blog to see. I’ll be talking about awards and celebrations for making and completing goals and how important it is. See you then and enjoy the stories in the live:

Extra videos (short):

HERE is about my experiences teaching the students in the village on my first trip and about their uniforms.

HERE is the story of the "COKE"

HERE is a short video of bits of the end concert on my first visit. Send me a photo of any of your levels completed. When you do, we can share it right here. By sharing, you can encourage others with your hard work!

Remember, this is a do-at-your-own-pace activity. If you miss a day, you don't start over. Just continue on and try again the next day. You can do this!!!

Click on the link for level one and get started on this project if you haven't already yet. If you have finished level four and you are ready for level FIVE alright then, here it is!

In a few weeks, look for level SIX, the last one. See you then!
